Facilities
The Two Bridges Sewerage Authority is an advanced, two-stage waste activated sludge treatment plant utilizing pressure filtration for tertiary filtering of the effluent. Ultraviolet light is used for disinfection of the effluent.
Plant & Processes:
- Preliminary Treatment: Includes screening at pumping stations and grit removal in the treatment plant
- First Stage Aeration: Removal of carbonaceous components of the wastewater
- Intermediate Settling: Separation of solids and floatable materials
- Second Stage Aeration: Two conventional air-activated sludge basins which create an environment for nitrification to take place
- Phosphorus Removal System: Polyaluminum Chloride injection to specific process locations aiding in the reduction of phosphorus levels
- Final Clarifiers: Further separation of solids and floatable materials
- Mixed Media Filters: Tertiary treatment of the secondary effluent
- Ultraviolet Light: Disinfection of the effluent
- Post Aeration: Aeration of the effluent water
- Effluent: Treated effluent discharged into the Pompton River
- Efficiency: Ninety-five (95%) removal of Carbonaceous BOD and suspended solids are consistently removed
- Ammonia: Less than 0.1 milligrams/liter
- Gravity Thickener Tanks for sludge thickening
- Belt Filter Presses for sludge dewatering (for future use)
